I had a great thanksgiving weekend. The weather driving on Wednesday was awful. It took us 9 hours to get into PA. When we went to NJ over the summer it took just under 10 hours for the entire trip! The traffic in Columbus was miserable, and then the weather was very bad- the first day we never drove over 35 mph! On thanksgiving we breezed through PA with just a bit of snow and arrived for dinner. It was great to see all my family and friends. I found out that my 5 year old cousins favorite doll is Kaya and (though she doesn?t know it) she will be receiving her first AG for christmas! She is getting Felicity- her second favorite. Her mother wouldn?t believe me that I had had Felicity since 1991, since Felicity is ?new.? Based on the condition of the dolls in her room, I think she is a bit to young for AG but her friends have them, so of course she needs them too... I hope I am able to stand up to my own children (if I have them) and not let them have the dolls until they can read the books...

On Saturday we went into NYC, and my only goal was to see the AGP windows. I was a little disappointed. They weren?t nearly as elaborate as I pictured, but it was still really cool to see them. My husband DID NOT like the animated windows (I thought they were so cool!) he doesn?t like the idea of the dolls we have sitting in the bedroom being able to move on their own. Because my husband is not a huge fan I had told him we didn?t have to go in, and there was a long line to even get in, so I was okay with that, but my Uncle who had taken us into the city (not the same one with the little girl getting the AG) told us we should go in, because it was what I wanted to see. So we waited in line (just under 10 minutes) to go in. The reason I didn?t video the moving windows is because right as I got the camera to them, we were let into the building!

It was very different than I expected, but very cool. I loved getting to see everything. The crowds were, as expected, HUGE. My uncle got a huge kick out of the burly security guard who kept shouting, ?Move along, you?ve gotta have a plan. Make a plan and move on.?

I loved being able to see all of the Coconut and Today stuff, since I don?t have much of it. I loved the equestrian AGoT outfit! The best part of the first floor was that I saw my husband carrying a box, and gave him a little kiss, and he said, ?How did this Coconut get in my hand? I wanted bananas!? But he did buy me Coconut and also the Statue of Liberty Accessories. I can?t see them until Christmas.

We took a few minutes to tour the other floors, my husband loved that there were doll hospital ?admissions?. I have most of the historical clothes, but it was neat to see the accessories which I have none. It might just be the ?bonding? thing, but I really think all of my dolls are much prettier than any of the ones in the store. Especially my PM Felicity, and my rosy cheeked Kaya. I also got to see Marisol, and my husband told me mine had better hair then the ones in the store. Interesting Can?t wait to open her on Christmas.

All the check out lines were very very long... So even though I had never been in the store I made the suggestion that we find the bitty baby room, it would probably be shorter. I was right. There was NO ONE in the BB room at all. I have never seen a BB, and I fell in love with them! They are adorable and so is all their stuff. And the bitty twins! But I will not be adding them to my collection.

The rest of the NYC trip was fun, lots of girls with AG dolls all over the place, Central Park zoo was great, because it wasn?t so hot the animals were really active, and then the drive back to Ohio was much better on Sunday, it took us about 11 hours of driving, just a bit of traffic in Columbus.

What a great trip!! And such a wonderful Uncle to see that you got to go in the store! (Not to mention your DH, for getting you AG stuff for Christmas!)
I don't think I could stand to get to an AGP, and then not get to go inside! I'd probably just implode on the spot....

Well I had said I wouldn't go in because the whole trip seemed to be "me me me" and I wanted to be fair to my husband. He really didn't even want to go to NYC at all... so I thought a doll store might be to much.

But he seems really excited about Coconut. I haven't seen her yet, but he has taken her out of the box 3 or 4 times. Maybe he just really wants a dog.

OOH- love your 21 in your icon. She was next on my list, but the one in the AGoT display wasn't as great as I had hoped. (I've wanted her since she was released.) I'm not sure if I should keep her next on the list or bump up 24.
